BPC-157 Peptide Therapy

Available Again, Prescribed After a Telehealth Visit

BPC-157 is one of the most talked-about peptides, especially among people dealing with nagging injuries. After a federal policy change in late October 2026, licensed compounding pharmacies can prepare it again, and Elevera Health providers can prescribe it when it’s a good fit for you.

Here’s what BPC-157 is, what the research does and doesn’t show, and how to find out if it belongs in your plan.

What Is BPC-157?

BPC-157 (short for “Body Protection Compound 157”) is a lab-made peptide: a chain of 15 amino acids whose sequence comes from a protein found naturally in human stomach fluid.

Researchers became interested in it because, in lab and animal studies, it appeared to support the body’s own repair processes, including the growth of small blood vessels that bring oxygen and nutrients to healing tissue.

The BPC-157 we prescribe is compounded, meaning a licensed pharmacy prepares it for you from your provider’s prescription. Compounded BPC-157 is not FDA-approved.

What the Research Says

Most of what’s known about BPC-157 comes from lab and animal studies. Human research is still limited, so we’re careful not to promise results.

Tendons, Ligaments and Muscle

Animal studies have looked at BPC-157 in tendon, ligament and muscle injuries, with signs of faster or more organized healing. These results haven’t yet been confirmed in large human trials.

The Gut

Because it comes from a stomach protein, BPC-157 has been studied in animal models of stomach and intestinal irritation and injury.

Blood Flow to Healing Tissue

Lab research suggests BPC-157 may encourage new small blood vessels to form, which is one way it may support repair. This is also why your provider reviews any history of cancer before prescribing.

Human Studies

Only a few small human studies and case reports have been published so far. Your provider will talk through what’s known, what isn’t, and whether BPC-157 makes sense for your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. In late October 2026, HHS announced a policy that once again allows licensed compounding pharmacies to prepare BPC-157 for individual patients with a valid prescription. Our providers prescribe it only after a visit, when medically appropriate.

Is BPC-157 FDA-approved?

No. Compounded BPC-157 is made by a licensed pharmacy for each patient. It is not FDA-approved and hasn’t been reviewed by the FDA for safety or effectiveness.

What is BPC-157 used for?

People most often ask about BPC-157 for tendon, ligament and muscle injuries and for gut concerns. Most of the research is in animals, so your provider will talk through what’s known and whether it fits your situation.

How is BPC-157 taken?

As a small injection just under the skin. Your provider sets your dose and schedule, and the pharmacy includes step-by-step instructions.

Can I take BPC-157 with TB-500?

Each peptide is prescribed and prepared separately; pre-mixed BPC-157 and TB-500 blends aren’t available under the current policy. Your provider will talk with you about whether more than one peptide makes sense.

When will BPC-157 ship?

Orders begin shipping in mid-November 2026. If you book now, your plan can be ready to go as soon as shipping starts.

Is BPC-157 safe?

Side effects reported so far are usually mild, but long-term safety in people hasn’t been well studied. That’s why it’s prescribed only after a review of your health history, and not for people with a history of cancer or who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How much does BPC-157 cost?

Your provider will go over BPC-157 pricing with you before you decide. Compounded peptides generally aren’t covered by insurance.
