Oral tirzepatide is a compounded formulation for patients who prefer not to use injections. It is designed to support weight loss by targeting the hormones that regulate appetite and blood sugar. It is not FDA-approved, and published evidence on oral tirzepatide is limited. FDA-approved oral alternatives include Foundayo (orforglipron, Eli Lilly) and the Wegovy® pill, and your provider will discuss how each option compares.

It mimics the body’s natural GLP-1 hormone to reduce appetite, improve blood sugar control, and increase feelings of fullness, and is a good option for those who prefer not to use injections. If a compounded formulation is prescribed instead, it is prepared by a licensed pharmacy and is not FDA-approved.
Bupropion/Naltrexone is a once a day weight loss drug that combines a noradrenaline/dopamine reuptake inhibitor with a non-selective opioid receptor antagonist. Research on the pathways that regulate food intake and body weight has identified the hypothalamic melanocortin system and the mesolimbic reward system, which are the targets of this combination.
